Sean Forester is Director of Art History and Humanities at The Florence Academy of Art where he also studies painting. He has a B.A. in Liberal Arts from 'The Great Books Program' at St. John¹s College and an M.A. in English Literature from Cambridge University where he studied on a Rotary Scholarship. Sean has taught courses on Leonardo, Titian, Dante, and Shakespeare, and traveled throughout Europe to study the works of the Old Masters. Before coming to the Florence Academy, Sean studied at the Atelier School of Classical Realism and the Charles H. Cecil Studios. His experience as a working artist allows him make his lectures directly relevant to students of painting and sculpture. Sean created our humanities program because he believes that a study of art history, literature, and philosophy are a key part of an artistic education. As Florence Academy Director Daniel Graves expresses it, 'To make paintings of significance, once must have craft, yes, but one must also, in the most basic sense, have something to say.'
